While the Israeli education system is struggling many hardships, we’ve encountered a rare opportunity: to define what education will look like in 2023, by connecting two different worlds. The connection is represented by two of the leading colleges of education: Levinsky College of Education, which has been operating for more than 100 years, training the next generation of educators; and Wingate College, the only educational facility in Israel for sports science and physical education – both are intuitively interchangeable with determination and excellence. What is the best way to create a new perception of the essence of education? How can we create an academy that connects students' lives multidimensionally and profoundly connects educators, first and foremost, to themselves? How can we do things differently? If you know the answer, please raise your hand.
Working on strategy, we were confronted with the essential question: should we create a new brand with a distinct personality? Or perhaps, choose to preserve the names of the two colleges, and thus the values and DNA they both symbolize? As we delved deeper into the culture and character of each college, one thing became clear: there is tremendous value in preserving the existing names and DNA - the combination of these two allows worlds that have yet to met in Israel, come together. Due to the fast-paced and complex nature of today's world, the importance of an education that combines mind, body and soul becomes more significant, therefore the positioning focuses on multidimensionality. The brand essence is based on the premise that everything is connected: a connection to a variety of content, a connection to new tools and skills, and a reconnection between educators and the field of education.
The Levinsky-Wingate Academic Center’s new visual language continues the concept of multidimensionality and the notion of doing things differently. The new logo unites the names of the two colleges into one academic center, with a triad of letters arranged at different angles, encouraging us to see things in a new, different and expressive way. The triad is also reflected in the disciplines united in the new academic center - education, music and sports.
It is also reflected in the level of mind, body and soul. We chose to design three color systems that can be linked to each content or discipline. The philosopher and educator John Dewey claimed, rightly, that education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. We believe that our mutual journey with the Levinsky-Wingate Academic Center positions it as the most relevant academic institution for education in Israel, and allows us to prepare educators for life itself.
